Hi, I’m Azzurra Bay Chiappone, an artist based in Siena, Tuscany.I've been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I'm especially drawn to people: their expressions, their moods, and everything you can understand about someone without them saying a word.I study art in Siena, and I spend my summers in California. They're two completely different places, but both feel like home, and both have shaped the way I see color, light, and people.Oil paint is my favorite medium, especially for portraits, but I also work in acrylic, gouache, and whatever feels right for the piece. I prepare and stretch my own canvases. My training is traditional, but I like to take color and composition somewhere freer.I keep coming back to faces, emotion, and color. Tuscany gives me warm shadows, old walls, and golden light. California gives me ocean waves, sunshine, and brighter colors. Somewhere between the two worlds is where my work lives.I’m currently available for original artwork and custom commissions.
